While the specific food recommendations below are based on Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s work, they have been
expanded a bit to clearly identify the best and worst food choices.

Here are a few keys:

  • The foods shown in italics contain problem lectins for your blood type. They are the most important
ones to avoid, or at least reduce.
  • The foods shown in bold specifically inhibit the metabolism for your blood type, so if weight reduction
is one of your goals, it’s a good idea to avoid or reduce those foods as well.
  • Most food rankings are the same for Secretors and Non-Secretors. But in cases where they differ, they
are coded with (S) and (NS). If you know you’re a Non-Secretor, or are challenged by auto-immune
issues, then pay attention to the (NS) rankings and ignore the (S) rankings. Otherwise, pay attention to
the (S) rankings and ignore the (NS) rankings.
  • The fish marked with an asterisk (*) are Australian varieties that have not been ranked by Dr. D’Adamo.

It is not necessary to follow these recommendations 100% to benefit. Most healthy people will experience
tremendous improvements by following even 50-75% of the recommendations, especially if they avoid their
problem lectin foods. Here’s an easy way to approach them:

  • Identify the foods you like in the Highly Recommended and Recommended categories, and aim to eat
    more of these.
  • Try to avoid, or at least reduce, all of the Avoid foods, especially the ones in italics.
  • Since the Not Recommended ones are not recommended, let go of the ones that aren’t favorites, and
keep the favorite ones as treats.

And here is a complete description of the
Ideal Cuisine for blood type A (including Secretors and Non-
Secretors, and vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians).
